Day 312: Sunday 7 March

I’m up. I’m about but I’m not what you would call lively.

Yesterday I spent quite a lot of time in front of the television. I watched Mean Girls, which was mostly pretty good and funny. I never thought I’d say this but I am now a fan of Lohan. I especially liked the frisson of the scene where someone is telling LiLo (Lindsay Lohan) about how another girl is a lesbian.

Laugh? Yes I did.

Then on SBS I watched a kung-fu movie with the hot Jet Li called Fearless. Not the best Jet Li film I have ever seen. That honour probably goes to Thai Chi Master 2…

But when it comes to kung fu movies you can’t NOT mention the awesome awe inspiring, funny, serious, gorgeous Michelle Yeow. She was in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and with Ziyi Yang has one of the best fight scenes EVER…

And this has got to be the worst fight scene ever, just plain ridiculous, gory with not much fighting…

Day 289: Friday 12 February

Hot or what?

I’m talking about me, not the weather, although it is pretty steamy in Sydney today.

Down at Clovelly at 8am it was perfection! Hot, sunny, blue skies, snorkelling. Sometimes I have to say thank you Sydney!

I have been getting many questions about my plans post Year of Denim. I have seriously been thinking of doing The Year of the Beach. This would mean everyday I would HAVE to go to the beach. The Year of Swimming would be easier cos then I could go to the local pool (if they ever finish rebuilding it).

But the Year of The Beach! Imagine going to the beach every day? How blissful would that be? Many people already live that enviable lifestyle. But they don’t live in Sydney’s inner west. They live at the beach. So watch out Aquabumps, I am seriously considering my next Year of…

Aaah the beach. How good does it make you feel to get in the water even on a yucky weather day? Does anybody know why the ocean is so amazing? Although there are some haters out there (DHo, you are one). How beautiful is snorkelling at Clovelly? Even just looking at the seaweed moving to the ocean’s pull is a sublime experience.

Day 274: Thursday 28 January

It’s late but I have been out and about and in denim too.

I went for a walk along the southern side of Coogee. Dolphins entertained the masses and me. I went for a dippity-do in one of the rock pools near Singo’s house, D-Ho made me a toasted sandwich for brunch and now I’m home. Here’s what I wore on the walk. Of course I didn’t think to take a photo ON the walk because that would be sensible…

Day 273: Wednesday 27 January

Has everyone recovered from feeling a rush of patriotism, jingoism and nationalism?

I know I have.

Killing in the name of Australia was quite an exhausting experience. I don’t know how soldiers do it.

Anyway, I celebrated Oi Oi Oi by going to Enmore Park with the family. My nieces got crafty with cupcakes, my nephews ran around re-enacting Star Wars.

So now it’s back to work today after a few days away. This is what I’m wearing until then. I’ll put on some office gear in a couple of hours, and if I can be bothered I’ll update this here blog.

Day 269: Saturday 23 January

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn’t it a pity
Doesn’t seem to be a shadow in the city

And because it’s so hot I have a day in town planned. Galleries, museums, a movie, beer…

And last night I experienced a little dash of culture. I went to a Sydney Festival thingy (no, not karaoke) in the Great Hall at Sydney University called Fractured Again.

The most exciting part of Fractured Again was the bit done on a glass harmonica, which sounds almost like a theremin. Another part of the show was played on various sheets of glass. The largest sheet, about the size of a door, emitted incredible deep sonic gongs.

The show was a bit of a mixed media/installation/ sound/ light/ music fusion spectacular. In the Great Hall it was pretty special. My mind barely wandered and I hardly twitched in my seat so it must have been at a little mesmerising.

I’m all fired up for some kultcha  now, so let’s go..

Day 258: Tuesday 12 January

My last day of freedom. Ever. Until my next bout of annual leave.

So what am I doing? Going to the beach? Enjoying the company of friends? Eating fine food and drinking fine wine? Going to the sales? Sleeping in? Getting a massage/ manicure/ pedicure/ facial?

None of the above.

I am cleaning up around the house, putting away the last of the Christmas lights and generally labouring my arse off. If all goes well I MIGHT go to the beach late this arvo, in which case I hope to look a little prettier than this…

Day 246: Thursday 31 December 2009

The last day of the year and I’m here. In Lismore. I’m about to head off to beach as there is a spot of sunshine after a week of rain.

Having just perused the last week of YoD blogs I realise it hasn’t been much of a travelogue. Maybe I’ll attempt to be a little more touristy and  a little less denimy over the next few days. I’m sure there are millions of readers who would be fascinated by my holiday in northern NSW.

Oh and happy new years eve everyone. Party like it’s 2009. I will be. Tropical Fruits here I come!

If  I get excited enough and I think my outfit is exciting enough I MAY update my blog with a Tropical Fruits denim. However as it’s supposed to rain and it’ll therefore by muddy I might just be in denim shorts and denim vesty thing so there MAY not be much to show off.

Friday’s update for Thursday

I went to the beach at Ballina, got some tanning going on, met up with an old work mate trhen stoppedin at BAllina’s most famous icon, The Big Prawn, which unfortunately is about to be demolished. I wanted to get a fridge magnet, but they have sold out of all their Big Prawn souveniers, which is almost as sad as the Prawn getting smashed up.

And then I went back nto my mate Graeme’s place, had a kip, had some dinner, got dressed and went out out OUT

Day 243: Monday 28 December

Is it hot in here or is it me?

Sweat trickling down my back, legs all slimey, stinky armpits. Hmmm, must be Queensland in summer.

It’s kinda damp today and I can’t decide whether to walk the Noosa headland today or wait until my lighter weight shorts are dry. Yep. I’m all about the big issues here on YoD.

Day 238: Wednesday 23 December

Christmas Day is inching closer as was the line at Dan Murphy’s booze emporium an hour ago. Yikes. How much will Australians put up with to get drunk? My guess is a lot, coz I spent some considerable time in that queue with beer ‘n wine contemplating that very question

Here on the Sunshine Coast you could almost think it was the end of the world. Have they started nuclear testing in the Pacific again I wondered…
